HC Deb 26 July 1990 vol 177 c535W
Mr. O'Neill

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what legislation regulates the provision of military training by British companies to foreign military forces.

Mr. Alan Clark

When such training might involve the release of United Kingdom classified information, it would be covered by the Official Secrets Acts 1911–1989.

Mr. O'Neill

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what assessment has been made of the scale of force reductions that could result from a second round of conventional disarmament talks.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

NATO is committed to seeking further limitations on the offensive capabilities of conventional armed forces in Europe beyond those currently under negotiation at the CFE talks in Vienna, including limitations on military manpower. The high-level task force is tasked with examining what could be done; it would be premature to speculate as to the outcome.
