To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects the Logica computer system for Trident to be fully operational.

§ Mr. Kenneth Carlisle
The material control system in new facilities at AWE Aldermaston, for which Logica is developing software, is expected to become fully operational next year.

§ Mr. Menzies Campbell
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what are the consequences to the Trident programme of the failure of the Logica computer system to meet his Department's full software specification.

§ Mr. Kenneth Carlisle
The material control system in the new facilities at AWE Aldermaston, for which Logica is developing software, is expected to become fully operational next year. Production of components for Trident warheads is not due to begin in the new facilities until 1992.
