HC Deb 25 July 1990 vol 177 cc255-6W
Ms. Walley

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received with regard to the sewage slick off the coast of East Anglia.

Mr. Maclean

None.

Ms. Walley

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what measures he proposes to take to protect the onshore fishing industry of East Anglia from the effects of the sewage slick in the Yarmouth area.

Mr. Maclean

Following consultation with the Department's marine scientists Anglian Water installed a long sea outfall which, following the completion of sewerage work in the Yarmouth catchment area, will remove the remaining sewage after fine screening to a sea area where it will safely disperse and degrade.
