To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his reply of 5 June,Official Report, column 472, if he will give details of licences issued for the export of ivory since 18 May.

[holding answer 10 July 1990]: Between 18 May 1990 and 7 July 1990 the Hong Kong authorities issued 15 export licences as follows:

In addition, one export licence was issued for 6.1 kg of worked ivory personal effects destined for United Kingdom. This licence was issued on 5 July 1990, but expired on 16 July 1990 without being collected by the applicant.
