HL Deb 20 July 1990 vol 521 c1182WA
The Earl of Shannon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why the Institution of Electronics and Electrical Incorporated Engineers and other incorporated engineering institutions have been excluded from Schedule 1, part 2, of the proposed European Communities (Recognition of Professional Qualifications) Regulations 1990 when their qualifications comply fully with Article 1d of the Directive 89/48/EEC, and they are recognised by this country in the same special form as the Chartered Engineering Institutions and the Engineering Council.

Lord Trefgarne

My Lords, inclusion in Schedule 1, part 2 of the consultation document on the draft implementing regulations is subject to satisfying all the requirements of Directive 89/48/EEC. The position of incorporated engineers, among other professions consulted, is being considered before the regulations are finalised.
