To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what is the latest estimate for the annual amount raised by the fossil fuel levy.

I announced on 12 February that I intended to set the levy rate for 1990–91 at 10.6 per cent. The detailed forecasts underlying this calculation are commercially confidential because they depend, inter alia, on forecasts of the electricity pool price. I shall publish the amount of levy collected in respect of 1990–91 after the end of the year.
