HC Deb 19 July 1990 vol 176 cc653-4W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many subject access requests under the terms of the Data Protection Act his Department has received; what was his estimate of the number of requests that would be received; what consideration he is giving to the subject access fee charged by his Department as a result; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Alan Clark

A total of 21,985 subject access requests have been received by the major pay and personnel database centres in the Ministry of Defence; all were from current, past and potential employees. The figures so far are considered to be roughly in line with the forecast of between 0.01 and 0.1 per cent. of the target population per annum. The subject access fee charged is not being reconsidered.
