HC Deb 19 July 1990 vol 176 cc720-1W
33. Mr. Cyril D. Townsend

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on cross-border security co-operation between the United Kingdom and the Irish Republic.

Mr. Cope

Measures to improve security co-operation are regularly discussed at Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Conference meetings, most recently on 17 July. In addition, regular meetings take place at all levels between members of the RUC and the Garda Siochana. Progress has been made, but further improvement is possible and the Government are committed to securing it.
