§ Mr. Archie HamiltonThe Soviet Union continued to produce large numbers of conventional weapons in 1989, although in certain categories, especially tanks and fighter aircraft, we believe output was significantly reduced from the previous year's level. On the naval side, six major combatants and nine submarines were completed.
