HL Deb 17 July 1990 vol 521 c850WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are content that the neologism "pre-embryo" should continue to be used by the Interim Licensing Authority in the wording it proposes to clinics for the consent forms which patients are required to complete before their embryos may be used for research, given that the Department of Health, the Medical Research Council and the Warnock Committee have all avoided its use.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Hooper)

It is for the Interim Licensing Authority to decide what wording it uses.
