§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe Northern Ireland Housing Executive was given responsibility for dealing with the accommodation needs of all homeless people under the 379W Housing (NI) Order 1988 which came into effect on 1 April 1989. The information requested is therefore available only from that date. I am advised by the chairman of the Housing Executive that the number of single people and families who have presented themselves as homeless during the year 1 April 1989 to 31 March 1990 in each district council area is as follows:
