Mr. Cryer

To ask the Attorney-General how many civil servants in his Department of the rank of principal or equivalent and above are graduates of Oxford arid Cambridge; and how many are graduates of other universities.

The Attorney-General

In the legal secretariat to the Law Officers, four civil servants at grade 7 or its equivalent and above are graduates of Oxford or Cambridge, and six are graduates of other universities. In the Serious Fraud Office, five are graduates of Oxford or Cambridge and 13 are graduates of other universities. In the Treasury Solicitor's Department and the Crown prosecution service, this information is not separately recorded and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
