HL Deb 11 July 1990 vol 521 c427WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What endeavours have been undertaken and what future endeavours have been undertaken and what future endeavours they propose in support of the Montreal Protocol.

Lord Hesketh

The UK hosted the second meeting of the parties to the Montreal Protocol, which took place in London at the end of last month and which resulted in a substantial strengthening of the protocol. At that meeting the Prime Minister pledged up to $15 million to help developing countries meet the incremental costs that they will incur in the next three years in complying with the revised protocol. The Government also provide financial support for the secretariat of the protocol, and play a significant role in the various assessment panels which operate under the protocol.
