To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the impact of rail links into Europe on all regions of the United Kingdom.

The opening of the channel tunnel will be a great opportunity for the railways to compete more effectively in the international passenger and freight markets and to bring extra choice of services to all parts of the United Kingdom.
