HC Deb 09 July 1990 vol 176 c70W
Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what research has been conducted into whether general practitioners read letters from(a) the Committee on Safety of Medicines and (b) pharmaceutical companies.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

[holding answer 27 June 1990]: Inquiries and increases in adverse drug reaction reports (yellow card reports) indicate that general practitioners and hospital doctors read and take appropriate notice of the information they receive.

The Department does not conduct research into the readership of letters issued by pharmaceutical companies.
