asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they expect to announce the names of those to be appointed members of Welsh health authorities under the terms of the National Health Service and Community Care Bill; whether they will take up their duties at the same time as their English counterparts; and if not why not.

We expect to announce the names of those to be appointed members of Welsh Health Authorities as soon as possible before the date of appointment. It is intended that those appointed will take up their duties at the same time as district health authority members in England.
