To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) what are his plans for new regulations regarding the use of reflective material for advertising on the rear of heavy goods vehicles;

(2) which colours he intends to permit for advertising in reflective material on the rear of heavy goods vehicles; and which he intends to prohibit.

Mr. Atkins

We have no plans to change the general regulations governing the colour of reflective material fitted to vehicles.

Generally, the only colour of reflective material which may be fitted to the rear of a vehicle is red.

There is no regulation to prohibit the use of red reflective material fitted to the rear of a heavy goods vehicle for advertising purposes.
