To ask the Secretary of State for Energy how many people are employed in the United Kingdom's offshore oil and gas installations.

Mr. Peter Morrison

Provisional figures indicate that 31,000 people were employed offshore on oil and gas installations in 1989, which is some 6 per cent. higher than in 1988.
