HC Deb 29 January 1990 vol 166 c77W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what certificates are currently required by France, West Germany and Israel to accompany meat and bone meal exports from the United Kingdom; and if he will list those other countries which have made representations to him concerning the quality of such exports;

(2) what representations he has received from other countries regarding the quality of meat and bone meal being exported from the United Kingdom.

Mr. Maclean

The certification currently required is as followsFrance—that the meat and bone meal is destined for use other than as food for ruminants: West Germany—application must be made to the appropriate Land authority for an import permit. This will state the particular certification which is required in each case. The Ministry is unaware that any application has been made and is not aware of any conditions which individual Laender may stipulate; and Israel—that the meal is derived from poultry.

I have received no representations about the quality of United Kingdom exports.
