§ Mr. Peter LloydThe number of persons who died while in police care has been published, since 1980, in the annual reports of the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, in respect of the Metropolitan police district and Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Constabulary, for all other police forces. Since 1982 the statistics have included brief details of the circumstances surrounding the death, and from 1987 information about persons who have died as a result of injuries caused by police officers acting in the execution of their duty. Information which is not recorded in the annual reports is not available centrally.
