§ Mr. Peter LloydFigures collected by Her Majesty's inspectorate of constabulary (which do not include the Metropolitan police) indicate that in 1988 there were 14 civilian fatalities involving a police vehicle while engaged in a pursuit or responding to an emergency. Figures for 1989 are not yet available.
