§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleySpending on care for AIDS patients is not separately identified. The specific provisions made available to health authorities in England as a contribution towards the costs of work to prevent the spread of HIV infection and the provision of diagnostic, treatment care and support services for people infected with the virus, including those with AIDS, were £58.74 million in 1988–89 and £121.90 million in 1989–90. In addition, an AIDS support grant allocation to local authorities of £7 million was introduced in 1989–90.
