To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he intends announcing details of the proposed study of a second road crossing of the Tamar estuary as outlined in his May 1989 "Roads for Prosperity" strategy; and if he will make a statement.

I aim to invite tenders this spring from consultants experienced in this kind of study. I shall make an announcement when an appointment has been made.
