To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the total amount his Department estimated Lancashire county council should have collected from commerce and industry in rates during 1989–90; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 19 January 1990]: The amount expected to be raised by Lancashire county council from commercial and industrial ratepayers in 1989–90 is £101 million.
