HC Deb 22 January 1990 vol 165 cc532-3W
34. Mr. Stern

To ask the Minister for the Arts, what steps he is taking to increase access to the arts by disabled people.

Mr. Luce

I announced in December 1988 that I was giving £150,000 to the ADAPT fund which the Carnegie Trust is setting up to improve the accessibility of arts venues for disabled people. I am pleased to say that the work of the trust is now well under way. In addition to this initiative, the Arts Council has a disability officer to ensure that the needs of disabled people are taken fully into account in the work of the council and its clients.
