§ Mr. Norman LamontApart from expenditure which is the responsibility of territorial Departments, all 349W Government expenditure is both planned and controlled on a national basis. Information on expenditure broken down by standard regions within England is thus not available on a consistent basis. For figures giving Government expenditure by territory in 1988–89, I refer the hon. Member to the reply given on 19 December at column 179–90 to my hon. Friend the Member for Swindon (Mr. Coombs).
