§ Mr. SainsburyWe have suspended normal ministerial contacts with the Chinese Government in line with the declaration on China at the Madrid European Council. We welcome the lifting of martial law in Peking as a positive move in the right direction. We hope the Chinese Government will now take further steps to strengthen the protection of human rights throughout China, including the lifting of martial law in Tibet.
