§ Sir Richard BodyTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the number of frozen whole chickens examined by the central public health laboratory and the percentage of them affected by salmonella in each year since 1980.
§ Mr. FreemanThe results of two surveys carried out by the food hygiene laboratory and division of enteric pathogens of the public health laboratory service on the frequency of salmonella in uncooked frozen chickens purchased by environmental health officers from supermarkets, butchers and other shops in north and west London are given in the table. There is no reason to believe that the samples were unrepresentative of the national picture.
