HC Deb 15 January 1990 vol 165 c105W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to increase access to moorland in the United Kingdom for walkers.

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

The existing network of 140,000 miles of rights of way in England and Wales already provides extensive opportunities for access to all types of countryside. Local authorities also have the power to enter into agreements with landowners where necessary to secure additional access to areas of open country, including moorland.
