To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will place in the Library the results of any studies his Department has conducted into the competitiveness of British manufacturing industry as against other OECD countries.

In 1989 my Department commissioned a study by the PA Consulting Group entitled "Manufacturing into the late 90's". A copy is available in the Library.
