HC Deb 15 January 1990 vol 165 c20W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what estimates he has made of the reduction of carbon dioxide from condensate boilers.

Mr. Peter Morrison

It is very difficult to give a precise figure as performance of gas condensing boilers used in space heating applications varies according to specific circumstances. However the average efficiency of a new non-condensing boiler in the domestic sector can be taken as 70 per cent. and that of a condensing boiler as 85 per cent. leading to a reduction of the CO2 emitted of 18 per cent.
