§ Mr. Robin Maxwell-HyslopTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will request all Scottish regions to standardise on the highway information management system, the computerised system developed by Devon county council, which has been chosen as the preferred system by five of nine Scottish regions.
§ Lord James Douglas-Hamilton[holding answer 21 December 1989]: The Scottish Development Department has endorsed the recommendation of the Scottish County Surveyors' Society highway database and management information system working party following a comprehensive trial of two of the available routine maintenance management systems, one of which was developed by Devon county council. The choice of the alternative system for use on trunk roads has been made following the recommendation of the Scottish County Surveyors' Society.
