To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the progress of the introduction of local financial management in schools.

Sixty-one authorities have received formal approval for their schemes and a further 30 are being consulted on modifications prior to approval. We have indicated to six authorities that their schemes cannot be approved in their present form.
