HL Deb 26 February 1990 vol 516 c588WA
Viscount Mackintosh of Halifax

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they intend to extend the relief from Capital Gains Tax provided by Section 147A(1) and (2)(d) of the Capital Gains Tax Act 1979 on the distribution of assets from accumulation and maintenance trusts, which at present is incapable of applying in cases where the capital vesting age is greater than 18 (except in those trusts where the settlor has made special provision to extend the statutory period of accumulation provided for by Section 31 of the Trustee Act 1925), to cover cases where the vesting age is not more than 25.

The Earl of Caithness

The Government are reviewing a number of aspects of the taxation treatment of trusts. We will ensure that the noble Viscount's suggestion is considered in the context of that review.
