HL Deb 26 February 1990 vol 516 c587WA
Lord Moran

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What has been the outcome of their discussions with the National Rivers Authority about the integrated approach to research and monitoring referred to in their response of 17th October 1989 to the Salmon Advisory Committee's first report, and on which rivers the approach advocated by the committee is to be tested.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)

Preliminary discussions have taken place between officials in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the NRA about the recommendations of the Salmon Advisory Committee in their first report. These contacts will continue as we explore with the NRA the scope for implementing these recommendations, paying regard to their cost and cost-effectiveness.
