To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the average number of patients on general practitioner lists for England and Wales and the Rochdale health authority area.

The figures requested for England and Wales and the Rochdale health authority area are 1,990 and 2,124 respectively, in 1988. In 1979 the average number of patients on general practitioner lists for England and Wales was 2,277, in the Rochdale health authority area the figure was 2,664.
