HC Deb 26 February 1990 vol 168 c36W
Mr. McGrady

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many businesses in Northern Ireland have now registered with the Fair Employment Commission as directed under the Fair Employment (NI) Act 1989; and what is the estimate of the number of businesses which have failed to register, but are required to do so.

Mr. Needham

As at 16 February 1990, a total of 1,662 concerns had registered with the Fair Employment Commission. The commission is currently not in a position to state how many concerns have failed to register. The commission's legal department is taking action to obtain information from approximately 80 concerns in order to establish whether they should have registered.
