HC Deb 23 February 1990 vol 167 c939W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy (1) whether he has undertaken a comparative cost-benefit analysis of proceeding with the construction of the Sizewell B pressurised water reactor nuclear power station and an enhanced programme of investment in energy conservation and efficiency.

(2) whether he will undertake a comparative assessment of the costs of continuing the construction of the Sizewell B pressurised water reactor with an expanded programme of investment in energy conservation and efficiency.

Mr. Baldry

Sizewell B will maintain the PWR technology as an option for the future, contribute to diversity and security of supply, and help to reduce fossil fuel emissions. For these reasons the Government attach the highest importance to the completion and operation of the station.
