HC Deb 21 February 1990 vol 167 c802W
Mr. Dykes

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the quality and effectiveness of the educational services offered in the tertiary colleges of the outer London boroughs.

Mr. Jackson

Two outer London boroughs, Harrow and Richmond, provide maintained education for those over the age of 16 through tertiary colleges. The colleges in Harrow were the subject of a report by Her Majesty's inspectorate last October, entitled "Aspects of Tertiary Education in the London Borough of Harrow". I am placing a copy in the Library. The inspectorate found that the quality of teaching and learning was generally sound, with good work leading to satisfactory examination results in many cases. There is no recent information available for Richmond.
