HC Deb 21 February 1990 vol 167 c842W
Mr. Oakes

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what tests are generally applied to food imported from Holland.

Mr. Freeman

At present all foods imported to the United Kingdom, regardless of the country of origin, are subject to the Imported Food Regulations 1984, which require food to be sound, wholesome and fit for human consumption. Examinations, as appropriate, to ensure that food meet these criteria are carried out by local enforcement authorities, including port health authorities.
