HC Deb 20 February 1990 vol 167 c674W
Mr. Macdonald

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what was the purpose of the visits to Stornoway airport by RAF Tornado GR 1 aircraft on 10, 22, 27, 28 and 29 November 1989.

Mr. Neubert

On 10 November 1989, an RAF Tornado GR 1 on a routine training sortie landed at Stornoway airport to refuel. During a routine safety check it was found to be unserviceable. The four subsequent visits by Tornado GR 1 aircraft during November 1989 were for the purpose of bringing in spares for the unserviceable aircraft and changing aircrews.
