§ Mr. Chris PattenMy Department currently uses the following firms to guard buildings occupied and managed by the Department's staff:

- Initial Contract Services
- Reliance Security Services Ltd
- Securiguard Services (Northern) Ltd
- A-One Guard Services Ltd
- County Guards
- Compass Security
The total number of employees is 54. More than one employee may be needed to cover a given post if there is part-time working or if the hours are very long. The total value of the contracts in the present financial year is £590,000. The expenditure in previous years includes elements of the costs for DTp. No separate figures are therefore available for DOE.
