§ Mr. NeubertStornoway airport was activated on two occasions for military exercises during 1989. Six RAF Tornado F3 aircraft and one RAF Sea King helicopter were deployed to Stornoway from 22 June to 30 June as part of a joint maritime course exercise (JMC 89/2); and six RAF Tornado F3 aircraft and one RAF Sea King helicopter were deployed there from 7 to 15 September 673W 1989 as part of Exercise SHARP SPEAR. If takeoffs, landings, practice approaches and overshoots are counted as separate movements, there were 198 movements by aircraft deployed to Stornoway during JMC 89/2, and 167 during Exercise SHARP SPEAR.
