HC Deb 20 February 1990 vol 167 c729W
Mr. Robin Cook

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether the principle of a minimum size for future general acute hospitals, adopted by East Anglian regional health authority, has been accepted by his Department; and if he will be making any observations to the regional health authority on this policy.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The appropriate basis on which to plan future general acute hospital provision is a matter for local decision, in the light of judgments about priorities and resources.
