§ Sir Eldon GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what progress he has made in agreeing with the United States Government the contributions to be made on behalf of the United States to local authorities where United States airbases are located, in lieu of the loss of revenue that results from American airmen and their adult dependants no longer contributing to local revenues via the rates;
(2) what sums received from the United States are being made available in the financial year 1990–91 to Suffolk county council and Forest Heath district council; and when the cash in question will be received;
(3) which Suffolk parish councils have indicated to him that they intend to cease providing certain local services on the grounds that the revenues they expect to receive from their British charge payers, following the cessation of rates from American service men, are insufficient.
§ Mr. David Hunt[holding answer 19 February 1990]: I will write to my hon. Friend shortly.
