To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many outbreaks of salmonella enteritidis have been identified or reported in free range flocks of poultry and in intensively reared flocks for the most recent 12-month period for which figures are available.

Between 1 January and 29 December 1989 there were 24 reports of salmonella enteritidis in free-range laying flocks and 77 in intensively reared laying flocks.
