§ Q72. Dr. GodmanTo ask the Prime Minister if she has had any recent discussions with(a) Chancellor Kohl and (b) other European Community state leaders concerning the forthcoming general election in the German Democratic Republic; and if she will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterI last met Chancellor Kohl at the European Council in Strasbourg in December. Other EC Heads of State or Government were also present. The present timing of the GDR elections had not been fixed at that point, but we had a useful discussion of the question of German unity. This was reflected in the Council's Declaration.
