§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyThe £119 million made available through the waiting list fund over four years has enabled thousands of additional patients to be treated from the waiting lists. Particularly impressive reductions have been made in the Mersey region, which has reduced the number of patients waiting over a year by a quarter in the nine months to December 1989. The region plans to be the first to have no patient waiting longer than two years for treatment.
