HC Deb 14 February 1990 vol 167 c300W
Mr. Meacher

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many, and what percentage of, women pensioners receive a full national insurance retirement pension on the basis of their own national insurance contributions.

Mrs. Gillian Shephard

I regret that it is possible to provide figures in the form requested on a Great Britain basis only. Of the 2,173,730 women resident in Great Britain who receive a category A pension, based upon their own contributions, approximately 73 per cent. receive a full rate pension.
