§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyThe total cost in 1990–91 of pay increases for National Health Service review body staff groups is £884 million in the United Kingdom. The cost of the increases for nurses and midwives is £523 million, and for hospital doctors and dentists it is £146 million. Of the total United Kingdom cost, £635 million is already within existing National Health Service provision, and an additional £205 million will be provided from the reserve. This additional funding is not specifically apportioned between the different National Health Service review body groups.
